Crooked Creek Wildlife Management Area, almost anyone can catch trout in this state facility of 1,600 acres. Six-mile-long Crooked Creek is stocked almost every night from mid-March to Labor Day. Hunt for deer, turkey and squirrel. Concession stand, restrooms and picnic tables, (804) 367-1000, 20 minutes from Laurel Mountain. Grayson Highlands State Park, voted #1 in the nation last year, hiking, horseback riding, bicycle, and some great trout fishing, 60 minutes away.
